The Importance of Not Being Arcovazzi

Rock Star Patti Smith sitting at the original 1972 Fischer vs. Spassky table in the Culture House at Reykjavík, Iceland on September 5, 2005. A few days before Patti met personally with Bobby Fischer “at midnight in a dark corner of an empty dining hall” at the Hotel Borg in Reykjavík, and they sang together all night long. She had known him many years before, when she was working as a shop assistant in the same bookstore where he was signing autographs. She helped him to escape his fans by escorting him out the back door. Photo: mbl.is/Árni Sæberg.
